Occupational Therapy
to support everyday living, independence and wellbeing
Occupational Therapy helps you build skills and strategies to manage daily tasks, routines and environments while improving confidence, independence and quality of life.
Understanding Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy focuses on helping people manage daily tasks, routines, and environments in ways that feel safe, achievable, and supportive.
Our therapists work collaboratively to understand your goals, identify barriers, and develop practical strategies that support participation. This may include skill development, sensory regulation, environmental changes, assistive technology, or adjustments to routines and tasks.
OT can support a wide range of needs, including physical, developmental, cognitive, emotional, and sensory differences.
Common Areas of Support
Our Occupational Therapists can help with:
Daily living skills such as dressing, meal preparation, and personal care
- Fine and gross motor development
- Emotional and sensory regulation
- Strengthening independence at home, school, or work
- Routines, organisation, and executive functioning
- Social and community participation
- Functional capacity assessments
- Assistive technology recommendations
- Home modifications and safety assessments
We support individuals across the lifespan and tailor interventions to each person’s goals and environment.
What to Expect From Occupational Therapy
Your Occupational Therapy journey begins with an initial assessment where we take the time to understand your strengths, daily routines, challenges, and goals. From here, your therapist will develop a personalised plan that focuses on building independence and supporting meaningful participation in the activities that matter most to you.
Sessions may explore practical skill development, sensory or emotional regulation, motor skills, and strategies to support organisation and daily routines. Depending on your needs, your therapist may also look at environmental factors in the home, school, workplace, or community and suggest adjustments or assistive technology that can make tasks easier and more manageable.
Occupational Therapy is flexible and collaborative. We work at your pace, provide clear guidance along the way, and involve parents, caregivers, or support workers when appropriate so that strategies can be used confidently between sessions. The goal is always to support long term independence and improve overall quality of life.
Flexible Ways to Connect
NDIS and Private Access
Available to NDIS and Private Clients
Occupational Therapy at People First Allied Health is available both via NDIS funding and through private billing.
- If you have an NDIS plan, we can support you under plan-management, self-management or NDIA-managed arrangements. As an allied-health provider, we can supply the assessments, reports and therapy required under NDIS supports.
- If you are not using NDIS, or choose to self-fund your therapy, we also offer private access. Private appointments are available to anyone and do not require an NDIS plan or eligibility.
